Janmashtami Celebration

//Janmashtami Celebration

The students and teachers of OES International School celebrated Janmashtami/ Gokulashtami on September 04, 2015. Janmashtami is a festival that denotes the birth of Lord Krishna. It also depicts his notorious behaviour in his childhood and youth. Janmaashtami or Gokulashtami, popularly known as Dahi Handi, is celebrated as an event which involves making a human pyramid and breaking an earthen pot (handi) filled with buttermilk (dahi), which is tied at a convenient height. Similarly, in OES International School, the teachers tied a pot at a convenient height and the students with the help of the teachers broke the pot.

The students were shown a video clip on the life of Lord Krishna. In this way the teachers wanted the students to understand the meaning of Janmashtami and they could relate the meaning of this festival. The students enjoyed the day very much.
